We had a lovely anniversary at The Clifton on Friday night!

The best babysitter in the world (Nona) came to watch Birch while Thomas and I snuck out for a dinner date at the inn where our wedding was three years prior.
Anniversary At The Clifton
The weather was much the same as it was on our special day – crisp and cool, warm in the sun, and perfect clear blue skies. We walked around the front lawn before going in.

Garden Promenade + Cocktails
Per tradition, we get a round of drinks and walk over to where our ceremony was. It’s such a treat to be able to visit this spot year after year.

Three Course Dinner
The terrace in the back is open-air covered porch, so it was a good al fresco option for safe dining.
The Clifton now offers a 3-course dinner instead of an a la carte menu. Plus bread and an amuse bouche makes 5. Our anniversary was the perfect time to enjoy so many courses, but boy was it a lot of food!

Maple Manhattan
I had an amazing Manhattan with walnut bitters and maple with dinner – it felt like a cocktail occasion!

The bread and salty butter were divine

Course One: Salad + Escargot
I enjoyed this arugula salad with blue cheese, pears, and spiced pecans (my favorite combo)

And Thomas had escargot with bone marrow! I tried his, which was super rich.

Course Two: Salmon + Pork Tenderloin
Scottish salmon with mushrooms, tomatoes, celery root puree, and a corn sauce. Thomas had pork tenderloin with caramelized fennel, pickled mustard seed, black garlic “foam” and other interesting flavors. Both dishes were fantastic!

Course Three: Double Chocolate
Thomas had chocolate cake, and I had “cookies and cream” which were two warm cookies with three flavors of rich ice cream – butterscotch, vanilla, and coffee. OMG this was so good!

Thanks to The Clifton for another lovely visit. I hope next year we can spend the night in the garden cottage again!
